Puerto Rico National Team Takes Gold with Tater

Tater, the official bat of Puerto Rico 

This year we became the official bat of Puerto Rico and the bats made a lot of noise in their first tournament appearance. They were hitting so well that coaches asked to get the bats checked! We are one of 30 approved companies worldwide that are approved for professional international play.  

Luis Mateo, the 2nd hitter in the lineup, swung Tater throughout the tournament and was named the Triple Crown Champion Hitter in runs batted in and home runs.  

Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla 2018 

After 16 years of waiting, the National Team climbed the baseball podium at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla 2018 at dawn today, Monday, at the Edgar Rentería Stadium.

With pride in their hearts, the 24 players of the national team received their gold medal as well as the coaching staff. The leader Juan "Igor" González and the president of the Baseball Federation of Puerto Rico, Dr. José Quiles Rosas.

"A spectacular moment. We came to fulfill what we promised the people of Puerto Rico, that we were going to be on the podium. The team looked excellent. This gold medal is a gift to the baseball fans in our country, who deserves it so much. It is an incentive for people to feel happiness in difficult times, "said Quiles Rosas in a press release.

Final outcome

Puerto Rico finished with a 5-2 mark and the first place in this tournament that was held in all against all format. The two defeats came in the last two games, after the gold medal was already secured, against Panama (5-2) and Nicaragua (10-9). The victories were against Venezuela (5-3), Cuba (8-1), Dominican Republic (4-1), Mexico (7-1) and Colombia (2-1).
